“A boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went away to war in 1914. He never returned, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike.” Well, that’s the romanic folks tale of the story of my #GlimpsofNature, digital-oil painting. But, according to The Seattle Times, the truth of the Vashon Island Bike Tree is a bit different. The two-wheeler belonged to King County deputy sheriff, Mr. Don Puz, who in 1954, in his joyous playing with his fellows simply forgot to take the bike back home and never minded to get it back and as we know, nature eventually wins, the tree engulfed it.
